SMS Messaging Consent Policy

How SparkGive collects and manages consent for SMS communications

Overview
This document outlines how SparkGive obtains, records, and honors consent for SMS communications

SparkGive is committed to respecting your privacy and ensuring that all SMS communications are sent only with proper consent. This policy explains how we collect consent, what types of messages you may receive, and how you can opt out at any time.

This document serves as our official record of consent collection practices as required by telecommunications providers and regulatory bodies, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

How Consent is Collected

SparkGive only sends SMS messages to users who provide explicit consent through one of the following methods:

Explicit Opt-In Methods:

  • User texting the toll-free number (user-initiated)
  • Unchecked checkbox on the donation or registration form
  • User preference toggle in profile settings

Consent is not required to donate or use SparkGive services.

Sample Opt-In Language:

"By checking this box, I agree to receive occasional text messages from [Church Name] via SparkGive related to donations, prayer requests, and church communications. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel. This is optional and not required to donate."

Types of SMS Messages

Users who provide consent may receive the following types of SMS messages:

  • Donation confirmations: Receipts and acknowledgments of donations
  • Prayer request updates: Status changes to submitted prayer requests
  • Church announcements: Important updates from your church
  • System notifications: Account security and service updates

Public Opt-In CTA:

"To donate by SMS, text $25 to (888) 123-4567."

This opt-in method is considered valid consent for a one-time reply.

Consent Records and Management

SparkGive maintains comprehensive records of user consent, including:

  • Timestamp of when consent was provided
  • The specific source through which consent was collected
